PCB Optimistic About Reviving Pakistan-India Cricket Relations with BCCI Delegation’s Arrival in Lahore

Cricket Relations

On Monday, PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf expressed optimism regarding the future of cricketing relations between Pakistan and India. He warmly welcomed a delegation from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that arrived in Lahore.

The visiting delegation included BCCI President Roger Binny and Vice President Rajiv Shukla, among others.

The high-level BCCI delegation’s visit occurred during the ongoing Asia Cup, jointly hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka under a hybrid model. The Indian cricket board refused to tour Pakistan for the tournament last year, leading to this arrangement.

According to a Times Now report, it marked the first visit of any BCCI delegation to Pakistan since November 2008. The delegation arrived in Pakistan via the Wagah Border.

Shukla, addressing journalists in Lahore alongside PCB chief Ashraf and Binny, stated, “Our visit is related to cricket, and Pakistan fans should enjoy the Asia Cup as impressive matches are being organized in the tournament.”

Binny, who last visited Pakistan in 2005, mentioned that they were in Pakistan to watch matches, including the one featuring Afghanistan scheduled for tomorrow, as well as other matches in the tournament.

PCB chief Ashraf referred to the arrival of the BCCI delegation as “a great moment” and expressed gratitude to the Indian delegation for accepting the PCB’s invitation and visiting Pakistan.

He emphasized the importance of reciprocity and stated that if the BCCI reciprocated the gesture, the PCB would respond accordingly, leading to stronger ties between the two cricket boards.

Reports indicated that the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) was contemplating the relocation of games in the Super Four round of the ongoing Asia Cup away from Colombo due to impending wet weather in the Sri Lankan capital. This is the hopeful Signs for Stronger Pakistan-India Cricket relations with BCCI Delegation.
