Pakistan vs Bangladesh
The eagerly awaited white-ball cricket series between Pakistan and Bangladesh is expected to see a slight adjustment in its schedule, with the initial start date of May 25 now likely to be pushed back to either May 27 or May 28.
According to sources familiar with the development, the change is being considered to facilitate logistical arrangements, particularly in light of commitments related to the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Sources from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) indicated that the shift is primarily linked to venue preparations and logistical coordination, especially for the matches scheduled in Faisalabad. The games slated for Lahore, however, are expected to proceed as originally planned, with no alterations in dates or venue.
Initially, the first T20 International (T20I) of the series was scheduled to take place in Faisalabad on May 25. However, officials are now reviewing the timeline to ensure smooth coordination, security arrangements, and optimal playing conditions for both teams. The Pakistan-Bangladesh series will feature five T20Is, hosted across two cities—Faisalabad and Lahore.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has already confirmed its team’s participation in the tour. PCB officials have reiterated that there are no security concerns surrounding the series, and the tour will be conducted in accordance with the pre-agreed plan, albeit with minor scheduling modifications.
In the build-up to the series, Bangladeshi spinner Rishad Hossain had voiced some concerns to the local media regarding regional tensions, particularly between Pakistan and India. Despite this, both boards remain committed to proceeding with the series, underlining the importance of cricketing diplomacy and regional sporting ties.
This series holds significance for both teams, as they prepare for upcoming international tournaments and look to test bench strength in competitive conditions. For Pakistan, it serves as a crucial opportunity to fine-tune their squad combinations following the conclusion of the PSL. Meanwhile, Bangladesh aims to assess the performance of its emerging talents in away conditions.
The PCB is expected to make a formal announcement soon regarding the updated schedule, with both fans and players eagerly anticipating the start of what promises to be a competitive T20I series.
