Russia Set to Lift Ban on Fuel Exports Next Week
Meanwhile,
The Russian government has instructed fuel producers to prepare for the removal of all remaining restrictions on diesel and gasoline exports, sources revealed on Thursday. Russia, a leading global seaborne exporter of diesel, initially imposed a ban on fuel exports on September 21 to address domestic price hikes and shortages.
While restrictions on diesel exports were eased on October 6, measures on gasoline exports remained in place. Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov indicated on Wednesday that Russia was contemplating lifting the export ban on certain gasoline grades.
“They told the producers that exports will be opened up from next week,” said a Russian oil company source who spoke on condition of anonymity owing to the sensitivity of such decisions. Another industry source said the ban would be lifted next week. They promised to lift the exports ban next week.
