Mohammad Rizwan has been named the captain of Pakistan’s white-ball cricket team.

Salman Ali Agha has been appointed vice-captain of Pakistan’s white-ball cricket team, as announced by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi. This announcement came alongside the naming of Mohammad Rizwan as the team’s captain for the white-ball format.

Naqvi, accompanied by Rizwan, Aaqib Javed, and Agha during the announcement, emphasized the value of former captain Babar Azam, stating, “Babar Azam is our asset. Players like him come around infrequently in the national team.”

He clarified, “I have not instructed anyone to include or drop players; I do not interfere with team selection.” Naqvi expressed that any success the team achieves would be credited to the entire squad.

Regarding Babar Azam’s decision to step down, Naqvi noted, “Babar has communicated his desire to focus on his batting and, after discussions with the coaches, has chosen to withdraw from the captaincy.”

Aaqib Javed, the convener of the selection committee, reinforced the commitment to include young talent in upcoming mega-events, aiming to build a competitive team. He also mentioned the intention to improve both batting and bowling performance.

Newly appointed captain Mohammad Rizwan assured, “I guarantee we will demonstrate our fighting spirit on the field.”
