LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: Senior Vice-President of PML-N Maryam Nawaz reached Lahore to reorganise party at a time when the coalition government’s under-discussion deal with IMF is dashing hopes of masses of having any relief in the costs of utilities and other essential consumer items.
Massive depreciation of rupee versus dollar in the last two days would add fuel to fire and further ignite price hikes in the country. How the PML-N tackles the price-hike problem in its public campaign, it is yet unclear?
Maryam Nawaz departed from United Arab Emirates (UAE) to land at Lahore airport at 03:40 pm.
She will lead the party’s election campaign ahead of the upcoming by-polls in Punjab in the wake of dissolution of assemblies.

Minister for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb said, “party leaders, workers and supporters are waiting for Maryam Nawaz.”
She said that Maryam Nawaz will start restructuring the organisational setup of the PML-N.
Maryam Nawaz, the PML-N’s SVP chief organiser, is scheduled to speak at a workers’ convention in Bahawalpur on February 2.
Meanwhile, PML-N leader Saood Majid recently visited Maryam Nawaz and PML-N leader Mian Nawaz Sharif in London.
At their discussion, they decided that Maryam Nawaz will address her first workers’ convention on Feb 2 in Bahawalpur.
Maryam will deliver her first address since being appointed to the role of chief organiser.
Following England’s clearance for the meeting, local PML-N activists have rushed to finish the planning.
Ms. Nawaz will speak at workers’ conventions in every divisional headquarters across the country, according to Parveen Bhatti, with Bahawalpur being her first convention in that position for the PML-N. She assured me that elaborate preparations would be made for the event.
