A delegation from the International Cricket Council (ICC) is currently in Pakistan to evaluate the venues and facilities for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. On Wednesday, the delegation met with Mohsin Naqvi, the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), to discuss the preparations for the tournament.
Pakistan secured the hosting rights for the Champions Trophy after signing an agreement with the ICC in December. Initial uncertainties arose due to India’s request to relocate most matches of the September Asia Cup to Sri Lanka. However, Pakistan remains committed to hosting the prestigious tournament.
The Champions Trophy 2025 holds significant importance as it marks the return of major global cricket events to Pakistan since 1996 when it co-hosted the Men’s Cricket World Cup with India and Sri Lanka.
During the meeting, Naqvi expressed delight over the ICC delegation’s visit, emphasizing its importance for the PCB and cricket enthusiasts nationwide. He assured the delegation of the PCB’s dedication to providing world-class facilities for the tournament.
Naqvi affirmed the PCB’s commitment to upgrading the country’s three major cricket venues well before the start of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He reiterated the board’s resolve to spare no effort in ensuring the tournament’s success and making it a memorable event.
The ICC delegation, led by Chris Tetley, ICC’s Head of Events, also included Sarah Edgar, Senior Manager of Event Operations, and Aun Zaidi, Manager of Event Operations. The meeting was attended by PCB’s Chief Operating Officer Salman Naseer, Director of International Cricket Usman Wahla, and other PCB officials.
The discussions focused on the preparations and successful execution of the tournament, reflecting both Pakistan’s eagerness and capability to host international cricket events at the highest level of professionalism and hospitality.
