ISLAMABAD: General Syed Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), extended his best wishes to the Pakistan cricket team players for their future endeavors as they participated in a pre-season camp at the military academy in Kakul ahead of the T20 World Cup. He conveyed this message during an interaction with the players at Army House Rawalpindi on Monday, as reported by the militaryโs media wing.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that the COAS hosted an iftar dinner for the national side, emphasizing the camaraderie between the military and the cricket team.
During the 11-day pre-season camp at the Army School of Physical Training in Kakul, Abbottabad, the players, known as the Green Shirts, underwent rigorous physical training. This training, overseen by Pakistan Army experts and strategists, aimed to enhance the players’ physical and mental strength.
A total of 29 elite cricketers participated in the camp, where the focus was on team building and improving fitness levels, agility, leadership, strategic thinking, and overall performance on the field. The training regime was carefully crafted to achieve these objectives.
Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, accompanied by PCB officials, joined the players and the COAS for the iftar dinner.
The cricketers expressed gratitude to the army chief for the excellent training they received at Kakul and acknowledged the army’s role in supporting sports in Pakistan.
