Champions Trophy 2025
In a significant step to welcome international cricket enthusiasts, Pakistan has announced relaxed visa policies for fans attending the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar revealed the decision during the concluding ceremony of the Champions T20 Cup, underscoring the government’s commitment to promoting tourism and cultural exchange through sports.
Scheduled to begin on February 19, 2025, the Champions Trophy will feature eight teams battling it out in 15 matches held across two countries, Pakistan and the UAE. While most of the matches will take place in Pakistan, India’s games are set to be held in Dubai due to ongoing political tensions between the two nations.
Minister Tarar emphasized the importance of separating sports from politics, addressing concerns about India’s participation. “Sports should be kept out of politics,” he stated, reiterating Pakistan’s readiness to host a successful event and urging fans to demonstrate their passion for cricket.
The opening match will see Pakistan facing New Zealand, while the grand finale is slated for March 9 in Lahore. However, if India qualifies for the final, the venue will shift to Dubai.
The tournament matches will be played in three Pakistani cities: Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Karachi. Lahore, the historic heart of cricket in Pakistan, is set to host several key matches, including the final unless circumstances necessitate a change.
Highlighting Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) thorough preparations, the minister expressed optimism about the event showcasing Pakistan’s capability to host international tournaments.
He also called on local fans to warmly welcome visiting teams, contributing to a positive and vibrant atmosphere.
Tarar underscored the broader objectives of this relaxed visa policy, which include fostering goodwill, strengthening Pakistan’s image globally, and providing fans an opportunity to witness top-tier cricket.
By easing visa requirements, Pakistan hopes to attract a larger international audience, paving the way for enhanced cultural and economic exchanges.
As excitement builds, the Champions Trophy is poised to become a memorable chapter in Pakistan’s cricketing history, uniting fans worldwide to celebrate the sport.
