Brazil sets quarter-final showdown with Croatia after defeating South Korea

DOHA: Brazil inflicted a stunning defeat to South Korea by 4-1 margin on Monday. Now Brazil is set to face Croatia in the quarter finals round of the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar. 

Brazilian football star _ Neymar was sidelined for two matches because of a sprained ankle, nonetheless, he was included in Monday’s match but with the world’s most expensive player restored to their side, Brazil’s yellow shirts poured forward at Stadium 974.

Vinicius Junior did the first goal within seven minutes of the match, followed byanother goal by Neymar from the penalty spot to move to 76 goals for his country.

Neymar is just just one goal away from equaling record of Pele _ Brazil’s legendary football who rules millions of hearts for years before retirement.

Interesting, Pele, who is being treated in a hospital Sao Paulo, watched the match from his hospital bed. Pele, 82-year-old, is being treated for colon cancer.

He will have enjoyed Richarlison’s dazzling goal to make it 3-0 before Lucas Paqueta added another before half-time, all celebrated with dance routines as Brazil’s supporters roared their approval.

Since 1998, it is the first time that Brazil scored four goals in a World Cup knockout game.

“We are dreaming of winning the title, that’s obvious, but we have to go step by step,” Neymar said.

He admitted he had feared at one point that he would not play again in the tournament after injuring his ankle in Brazil’s opening game against Serbia.
