South Africa secured a thrilling one-wicket victory over Pakistan in a crucial World Cup match as they successfully chased down a target of 271 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Pakistan had won the toss and opted to bat, aiming to break their three-match losing streak. They posted a total of 270 runs, with Babar Azam and Saud Shakeel both contributing half-centuries.
Tabraiz Shamsi was South Africa’s standout bowler, claiming four wickets for 60 runs.
The South African chase came down to the wire, and it was tail-ender Keshav Maharaj who clinched the victory with a boundary against Muhammad Nawaz when they needed just four runs to win. Shaheen Shah Afridi led Pakistan’s bowling attack, taking three wickets, while Haris Rauf, Usama Mir, and Mohammad Wasim each secured two wickets.
Both teams made changes to their line-ups. Pakistan altered the lineup with two changes: Hasan Ali was unable to play due to illness, leading to the inclusion of Wasim Jr, and Muhammad Nawaz replaced Usama Mir in the squad.
South Africa welcoming back captain Temba Bavuma after his absence in the previous two games. Due to a back injury, Kagiso Rabada and Lizaad Williams have been substituted with the inclusion of leg spinner Tabraiz Shamsi and fast bowler Lungi Ngidi.
The win solidified South Africa’s position in the tournament, while Pakistan faced their third consecutive loss after starting with two wins.
