A young child, Irtaza Abbas Turi, was martyred in what Pakistan has condemned as a “cowardly attack” by Indian forces on civilian areas in Azad Kashmir. The victim was the son of Colonel Zahir Abbas Turi of the Pakistan Army. His tragic death has stirred grief across the nation.
The funeral prayer for the young martyr will be held today in Islamabad, with senior military officials, family members, and a large number of citizens expected to attend and pay their respects.
The incident occurred during a wave of Indian strikes on civilian targets overnight, a move that significantly escalated tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
In response, Pakistan’s armed forces launched what they described as a decisive counteroffensive, claiming the downing of five Indian Air Force jets—including three Rafale aircraft—and the destruction of several military positions, including a brigade headquarters.
According to Pakistani military sources, Indian troops reportedly raised a white flag at the Chora Complex post along the Line of Control (LoC), signaling retreat and an acknowledgment of defeat.
