A small twin-engine plane crashed into the back of a moving car on Interstate 95 in Florida, creating a shocking scene captured on dashcam. The incident occurred during rush hour, sending sparks across the highway but resulting in no fatalities.
Dashcam Footage Shows Harrowing Crash
The dashcam footage shows the Beechcraft 5 descending rapidly toward the southbound lanes. The plane collided with a 2023 Toyota Camry, damaging its rear, causing it to bounce and skid to a stop. Sparks flew across the pavement, alarming nearby drivers.
The car’s driver, a 57-year-old, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Both pilots, a 27-year-old from Orlando and another 27-year-old from Temple Terrace, emerged uninjured and remained at the scene to cooperate with authorities.
Investigation Underway as Highway Reopens
Florida Highway Patrol is conducting a traffic crash investigation to determine the cause of the unusual accident. Preliminary reports indicate that the pilot declared an engine failure shortly before attempting the forced landing.
A portion of Interstate 95 was temporarily closed to allow emergency crews to secure the site and clear debris. Authorities confirmed that traffic has since resumed, though drivers are urged to exercise caution near the area.
This rare accident highlights the importance of pilot training and emergency preparedness in avoiding a potentially catastrophic outcome. Despite the dramatic visuals, all involved survived with minimal injuries, leaving authorities and witnesses relieved.
