Saudi Arabia executed six Iranian nationals convicted of drug trafficking, according to a report by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on Wednesday.
The executions took place in the Eastern Province after the individuals were found guilty of smuggling hashish into the Kingdom.
Following their arrest by Saudi security forces, the smugglers were brought before a competent court. Their conviction was upheld through an appeals process, affirmed by the Supreme Court, and finalized with a royal order authorizing the enforcement of the death penalty, the SPA stated.
The Ministry of Interior emphasized its commitment to safeguarding the security of citizens and residents from the dangers of drug-related crimes. It reiterated the government’s strict enforcement of the most severe penalties against drug smugglers and dealers as outlined by Saudi law.
