KARACHI: The Sindh government has officially notified a new minimum wage of Rs40,000 per month for unskilled workers across the province, with the revised rates taking effect from July 1, 2025.
Provincial Minister for Labour Shahid Thahim announced the development on Wednesday, confirming that the revised wages will apply to both registered and unregistered industrial and commercial establishments operating in Sindh.
According to the notification, the monthly wage for semi-skilled workers has been fixed at Rs41,380, while skilled workers will now earn Rs49,628 per month. The highest category of highly skilled workers will be entitled to a monthly wage of Rs51,745.
The minister added that the minimum hourly wage for all categories of labour has been set at Rs192.
“This is a major step towards protecting the rights of labourers and ensuring fair compensation in light of rising inflation and economic pressures,” said Thahim. He emphasized that all employers must comply with the new wage structure without exception.
