KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon unveiled a comprehensive development agenda for the province, including major initiatives in education, thousands of new jobs for teachers, healthcare, infrastructure, and agriculture.
Speaking at a press conference, Memon announced the recruitment of 4,400 new teachers and the establishment of four new IBA community colleges. He also revealed that starting next quarter, financial autonomy will be granted to 34,000 government schools across Sindh to enhance education standards and improve school management.
In the healthcare sector, the minister said the Sindh government is prioritizing key investments. Funds are being allocated for the expansion of the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT), People’s Primary Healthcare Initiative (PPHI), National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD), and Chandka Medical College Hospital. Ambulance services across the province are also being upgraded.
Turning to urban development, Memon announced a special package for Karachi that will include new projects in road infrastructure, water supply, sewerage systems, and public transport. Building on the recent launch of 50 electric buses, he confirmed that another 100 electric buses will be added to the fleet by August.
On the agricultural front, the senior minister said that under the Benazir Hari Card initiative, phased subsidies will be extended to 200,000 farmers. He emphasized the Sindh government’s commitment to timely and effective execution of all announced projects.
