KARACHI: The Sindh provincial government temporarily shut down the recently introduced fuel subsidy web portal. This was due to the portal being subjected to repeated cyber attacks. This information was disclosed by the Minister of Excise, Mukesh Kumar Chawla, during a press briefing. He further stated that the portal had been brought back online immediately after its security was strengthened.
This portal has been established by Sindh’s Chief Minister, Murad Ali Shah. Through this portal, people who own motorcycles can avail themselves of the monthly Rs2,000 fuel subsidy. They can do this by registering their CNICs and account numbers.
Technical Glitches Hit Early Rollout
In addition, thousands of users experienced extended wait times and disruptions upon the launch of the portal. Nevertheless, the reactions are promising. Chawla said that at least 15,000 individuals have registered on the portal. In total, 3,000 of them have requested the subsidy. Rs2,000 was deposited into the Sindh Bank accounts of 1,500 beneficiaries.
Nevertheless, monitoring of the portal remains ongoing due to hacking allegations. Swift action has been taken to safeguard personal information collected from motorcyclists. This is to avoid any data leaks.
Big Relief Planned for Millions of Riders
Moreover, Sindhโs Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has pointed out the magnitude of this plan. He said that there are approximately 6.7 million motorcycles registered in Sindh. All eligible users can receive Rs2,000 monthly from the government through this plan. It is aimed at relieving people from the escalating cost of fuel used for their motorcycles.
Thus, the speedy resumption of the website indicates how keen the government is to offer assistance. Many motorcycle owners are now waiting for easier registration and timely receipt of benefits.
Motorcycle owners have been asked by authorities to remain patient. This is because the security of the website is still being completed. The fuel subsidy plan is an important move by the Sindh government. It aims to help millions of people.
