Actress Memoona Qudoos has stirred controversy with bold remarks about Pakistanโs entertainment industry, claiming that Lahoreโs showbiz scene harbors more โwrong practicesโ than Karachi.
Speaking during a podcast interview, Qudoos alleged that homosexuality, public parties, and other questionable behaviors were more prevalent in Lahore. She argued that while such practices may exist everywhere, they should remain private rather than being displayed openly.
Drawing a comparison between the two cities, Qudoos said that Karachi also has its share of negative elements but added that they are less visible. In her view, people in Lahore tend to โshow off,โ often boasting about wealth they do not actually possess.
On the other hand, she described Karachiโs industry as highly professionalโsometimes excessively so. โThere is so much professionalism in Karachi that they have left humanity behind,โ she remarked.
Qudoos also leveled controversial accusations regarding relationships in Karachi, alleging that many men there approach women with material โdeals.โ
She claimed that these men often offer benefits or luxuries in exchange for women agreeing to become their girlfriends, framing relationships in transactional terms.
The actress further addressed the long-standing issue of casting couch practices in the entertainment industry. She acknowledged that harassment and exploitation are not limited to women alone but also affect men, who she said face similar vulnerabilities. According to Qudoos, both genders are pressured into exchanging sexual favors for professional opportunities.
โRespect is not only for women. Men are also victims of harassment, and wrong things happen to them too,โ she emphasized.
Her remarks have sparked strong debate online, with some agreeing with her candid observations while others criticized her for tarnishing the reputation of Lahoreโs entertainment industry. The podcast has reignited discussions about morality, professionalism, and harassment in Pakistanโs showbiz circles.
