Indian Member of Parliament and seasoned diplomat Shashi Tharoor, during a recent address in the United States, launched a scathing critique of U.S. President Donald Trump, questioning his capacity for leadership and accusing him of lacking political foresight and intellectual depth.

The Congress MP clarified that his criticism was not rooted in partisan bias, stressing that he had interacted with leaders from both ends of the political spectrum and maintained respect for the office of the U.S. President. However, he emphasized that Trump represents a sharp departure from the leadership qualities traditionally associated with past American presidents.
“Trump lacks the gravitas and intellectual capacity that are critical for someone occupying the most powerful political office in the world,” Tharoor asserted. He added that under Trump, the U.S. has witnessed a decline in global diplomatic stature and consistency, leading to uncertain consequences for countries like India that have long viewed the U.S. as a strategic partner.
Tharoor’s remarks come at a time when many global leaders and observers have expressed concern about the shifting tone of American foreign policy under Trump’s administration.
