Actor and director Shamoon Abbasi has accused the creators of HUM TV’s drama Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi of removing his writing credits despite his major contribution to the project.
The popular drama, starring Wahaj Ali and Sehar Khan, credits Syed Nabeel as writer, Saife Hasan as director, and Momina Duraid Productions as producer. Abbasi’s name, however, is missing from the YouTube and HUM TV listings.
In a Facebook post, Abbasi claimed he not only contributed to the screenplay but also came up with the drama’s title. He wrote, “I would like to thank all the audiences around the world that are liking my serial Jin Ki Shadi Unki Shadi (title also given by me) as well as my story and screenplay. The serial is being liked by a large audience.”
Abbasi said he had worked on the project for four months alongside the writer, dictating every scene and track, with the intention of eventually directing it himself.
He added that his name still appeared on scripts distributed to actors during filming. “I wish the creators had the courtesy to mention my name if not now… but as the screenplay writer,” he lamented, calling it a lesson learned about protecting his work.
He stressed that his post was meant for awareness rather than confrontation but warned he has “all the rights and [evidence] to provide in multiple ways” if challenged. Despite the controversy, Abbasi expressed satisfaction that the drama has been well-received and described it as his idea to bring freshness to an industry he says is saturated with “stale” and “cringe” content.
The drama also stars Arslan Naseer, Romaisa Khan, Sidra Niazi, Syed Jibran, Laiba Butt, Irfan Motiwala, Nadia Afgan, and Tamkenat Mansoor. Abbasi concluded by saying the show’s success proves that his stories still resonate strongly with audiences.
