Shakib Al Hasan once again showcased his T20 prowess in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 with a stunning innings for the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons. Coming in at 51/2 after Antigua lost two early wickets, the Bangladesh all-rounder took charge of the innings and produced a whirlwind performance that left fans and opponents alike in awe.
Initially cautious, Shakib quickly assessed the conditions and began punishing loose deliveries, seamlessly finding the gaps for boundaries. Partnering with Amir Jangoo, he stabilized the innings before accelerating with an array of powerful shots.
His explosive approach culminated in a 20-ball half-century, equalling his career-best T20 mark and setting the record for the fastest fifty in the history of the Falconsโ CPL campaigns. By the time he was dismissed for 61 off just 26 balls, Shakib had struck four fours and five sixes, making it his highest-ever CPL score.
Amir Jangoo complemented Shakibโs aggression with a steady 56 off 43 balls, ensuring the innings maintained momentum. Fabian Allen then added some late fireworks, smashing 38 off just 17 deliveries, helping Antigua reach a formidable total of 204 runs in their 20 overs.
The innings demonstrated a perfect mix of calculated partnerships, aggressive hitting, and strategic shot selection, providing Antigua with an excellent platform in what proved to be a high-scoring encounter.
Shakibโs 20-ball fifty against Saint Lucia Kings now ranks among the fastest in his T20 career, alongside his 20-ball effort against Khulna Tigers in BPL 2024 and a 22-ball fifty for Dhaka Gladiators in BPL 2012.
It also stands as the quickest half-century ever scored for the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons in CPL history, surpassing previous fastest fifties of 30 balls by Jewel Andrew in 2024 and Karima Gore in 2025.
The innings highlighted Shakibโs ability to adapt quickly to match situations, combining composure and aggression in equal measure.
His performance not only provided a strong foundation for Antigua but also reinforced his status as one of the premier T20 all-rounders, capable of turning matches with his bat and providing inspiration to teammates and fans alike. The record-breaking knock will be remembered as one of the standout individual performances in CPL 2025.
