Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi said on Thursday that dropped catches played a decisive role in the team’s eight-wicket loss to South Africa in the second ODI at Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium.
Speaking at the post-match presentation, Afridi acknowledged that Pakistan’s fielding lapses allowed South Africa to dominate the game. “Dropped catches proved costly for us today,” he said, adding that the team would learn from its mistakes ahead of the final match.
Praise for Saim Ayub and Agha Salman’s Partnership
Afridi lauded the efforts of Saim Ayub and Salman Ali Agha for their fighting partnership, which helped Pakistan recover from a poor start. “Saim and Agha have batted well,” the skipper said. “After losing three wickets early, 270 was a good total. We will make a comeback in the next match.”
