Sikhs For Justice has strongly condemned what it called a dangerous escalation after a violent remark targeting US President Donald Trump surfaced at a public event in the United States. The group described the incident as a serious breach of democratic norms and a threat to national security. Moreover, it warned that political violence must never find acceptance on American soil.
Video From US Event Sparks Outrage
The controversy emerged after a video circulated online from a conference held in Seattle. During the event, a speaker allegedly made remarks that mocked Americans and included a violent threat against the US president. Some attendees reportedly responded with applause, which intensified public concern. Consequently, the clip spread rapidly across social platforms and drew sharp reactions.
SFJ stated that the comments represented an unacceptable challenge to US democratic values. According to the group, the remarks went beyond political expression and crossed into direct incitement. Furthermore, SFJ alleged that accounts aligned with Hindutva ideology amplified the video online, increasing its reach and impact.
SFJ Calls Threat a Red Line
SFJ General Counsel Gurpatwant Singh Pannun said a violent threat against a sitting US president must never be normalized. He stressed that such language undermines both presidential security and constitutional order. Therefore, he urged accountability for those involved in promoting or endorsing the rhetoric.
Pannun described the incident as a challenge to American sovereignty. He claimed supporters of Indiaโs ruling ideology were attempting to normalize violence within the US political space. As a result, SFJ called for firm action against networks it accused of enabling such behavior.
Complaint Filed With US Authorities
SFJ confirmed it has submitted a formal complaint to US federal authorities. The organization requested an investigation into both the alleged incitement and its online dissemination. However, officials have not publicly confirmed whether a probe has begun. Still, SFJ maintains that the seriousness of the threat demands scrutiny.
In addition, Pannun urged President Trump to raise what he termed a loyalty question. He suggested Indo-American political affiliations should be examined during any potential conflict involving India. He argued that Americans deserve clarity regarding allegiance to the US Constitution.
Position on Khalistan Movement
SFJ reiterated that the Khalistan Referendum campaign remains peaceful and democratic. The group described it as a lawful movement seeking Sikh self-determination in Punjab. Pannun added that, in any conflict initiated by Washington, pro-Khalistan Sikhs would support the United States.
Overall, SFJ insisted there is no space in the US for extremist ideologies promoting violence. It emphasized that constitutional law must prevail. The organization concluded that safeguarding democratic norms requires immediate and decisive accountability.
