Severe weather conditions have caused widespread disruption to flight operations across Pakistan, affecting both domestic and international travel and creating significant inconvenience for passengers. Dense fog and poor visibility in several major cities led to flight cancellations, diversions, and lengthy delays throughout the day, according to official flight schedules.
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) cancelled two domestic flights โ PK 302 and PK 303 โ operating between Karachi and Lahore due to unsafe flying conditions. In addition, a foreign airline flight, F3651 from Riyadh to Islamabad, was diverted to Peshawar as a precautionary measure, highlighting the seriousness of the weather-related challenges faced by aviation authorities.
Overall, nearly 70 flights were delayed nationwide. Lahore was the worst affected, with 30 flights experiencing delays, followed by Islamabad with 12 delayed flights and Karachi with 10. Other cities impacted included Multan, where seven flights were delayed, Peshawar with three delays, and Sialkot, Faisalabad, and Skardu, each reporting two delayed flights.
Several flights faced prolonged delays of multiple hours. PIA flight PK 373 from Karachi to Islamabad was delayed by 11 hours, while Etihad Airways flights EY 284 and EY 285 from Abu Dhabi to Lahore were delayed by 10 hours each.
Other notable delays included PK 747 from Lahore to Medina, which departed eight hours late, and PK 248 to Dammam, which was delayed by four hours. Saudi Airlines flights SV 801 and SV 800 from Jeddah to Multan were also delayed by four hours.
Aviation authorities advised passengers to remain patient and to regularly check flight statuses with their respective airlines before leaving for airports. Travelers were also urged to exercise caution while commuting, especially during early morning and late-night hours when fog tends to be more severe.
Officials confirmed that flight operations are gradually returning to normal as weather conditions improve, although intermittent delays may continue if visibility remains poor in certain regions.
