Lahore: The Punjab Ombudsperson has ordered the dismissal of Moazzam Supra, former Director General of the Punjab Land Record Authority (PLRA), after an official investigation found credible evidence of sexual harassment against a female subordinate.
The complaint, filed by Fareeha Aram, a former Assistant Director Land Records (ADLR), was thoroughly investigated and deemed substantiated. The Ombudsperson ruled that Supra had engaged in a pattern of inappropriate behavior during Aramโs tenure at the authority.
According to the findings, Aram was terminated from her position after refusing to comply with inappropriate demands from her superior. She was reportedly subjected to deliberate isolation, forced to remain idle for extended periods, summoned privately under the pretext of marking attendance, and placed under psychological duress.
The verdict further stated that she was at one point held in unlawful confinement and endured persistent mistreatment and harassment from the former DG.
The Ombudsperson has directed the relevant departments to immediately enforce the dismissal order, emphasizing the need for accountability and justice within public sector institutions.
The case has drawn significant public attention and raised alarm over the abuse of authority in government departments. It is being seen as a critical step forward in the enforcement of workplace harassment laws in Punjab, and a milestone in protecting the rights and dignity of women in the public sector.
