Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was stranded for 20 minutes in East Punjab by demonstrators on a flyover in what was characterized as a security lapse, according to BBC reports.
When the protesting farmers blocked the road on Wednesday, Mr. Modi was en route to a memorial in the northern state.
The farmers were protesting for the resignation of a minister whose son, they accused, is involved in the killings of farmers.

According to the federal home ministry statement, “this was a major lapse in the security of the PM.” An election rally at Ferozepur was also scheduled to be addressed by Prime Minister Modi.
However, due to a security lapse, the prime minister’s convoy redirected to the airport.
In October, eight individuals died in an incident in which the son of Ajay Mishra, a junior home minister, was accused of involvement.
An automobile affiliated with Mr. Mishra struck and killed four farmers in Uttar Pradesh who were protesting a land grab. Mishras deny that their son Ashish was responsible for the attack, but farmers claim that Ashish was behind it.
