ISLAMABAD: Pakistan security forces killed twenty-two India-sponsored militants during an operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu district. ARY News reported the development on Tuesday while citing the Inter-Services Public Relations. The ISPR confirmed that the forces acted on precise intelligence regarding militant activity in the area. The operation targeted members of the group known as Fitna al Khwarij, which the ISPR described as an Indian proxy outfit.
Troops Engage Militants After Receiving Intelligence
According to the ISPR, security forces launched the intelligence-based operation on 24 November 2025. The forces moved into the Bannu district after receiving information about the presence of Khwarij militants. Troops engaged the suspects during an intense exchange of gunfire. They successfully neutralised twenty-two militants linked to the hostile network. The ISPR noted that the operation achieved its primary objective with accuracy.
Authorities Continue Sanitisation Efforts in Area
Meanwhile, security personnel have begun a detailed sanitisation effort in the region. They aim to locate any remaining militants connected to India-sponsored networks. Officials stated that the effort will continue until full security is restored. The ISPR reiterated that no militant elements will be allowed to regroup in the district. Authorities emphasised that all detected threats will face decisive action.
Campaign Against Terrorism Continues Under National Policy
The ISPR reaffirmed the commitment to the ongoing counterterrorism campaign under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam. It stressed that the campaign will continue at full pace until the country dismantles foreign-sponsored terrorism. Officials highlighted the importance of sustaining pressure on hostile networks. They added that security forces remain focused on protecting national stability.
Police Foil Terror Plot in Separate Bannu Incident
In a separate development, KP police foiled a terrorist plot targeting a bridge on the outskirts of Basia Khel. Police personnel acted swiftly after detecting an explosive device near the bridge. The Bomb Disposal Squad defused an improvised explosive device containing up to ten kilograms of explosives. Residents praised the police for acting quickly and preventing a major tragedy.
Residents Appreciate Police for Saving Infrastructure
Local residents expressed gratitude to the Bannu police for their timely action. They said that miscreants who damage infrastructure deserve no leniency. Police officials revealed that the militants had attached the IED to the central pillar of the bridge. Regional Police Officer Sajjad Khan stated that officers acted in time to save public infrastructure from destruction.
