Security forces on Tuesday concluded a two-day operation against militants who attacked the Frontier Corps brigade headquarters in the Nokundi area of Chagai district. Officials confirmed that all six attackers were killed during the clearance phase.
The militants launched the assault on Sunday night. A female suicide bomber detonated herself at the main gate of the FC fort, enabling the armed group to storm the compound. Security personnel immediately engaged the attackers and killed three militants at the entrance.
However, three other militants managed to enter the building and take hostages. The situation triggered a prolonged operation, as forces worked to secure the compound without endangering the captives. Officials reported heavy firing throughout Monday as the standoff continued.
Local residents said the firing finally stopped on Tuesday morning. Authorities later announced that security forces killed the remaining assailants during a late-night operation. The clearance effort brought the compound back under full control.
Meanwhile, details regarding casualties remained unclear. By the time this report went to press, the military’s media wing had not released any statement about losses suffered during the attack or operation.
The incident marks another significant security challenge in Balochistan’s border region, where militants continue to stage attacks on security installations. Authorities said the operation demonstrated the forces’ determination to protect strategic sites despite evolving threats.
