Security forces, including the army, police, and Frontier Corps (FC), have initiated a significant operation in Kurram, targeting militant bunkers in the region. Two bunkers were demolished today as part of the ongoing effort to dismantle illegal fortifications. The operation was conducted with a heavy security presence to ensure safety throughout the process.
Kurram Deputy Commissioner Ashfaq Khan confirmed that the demolition of these bunkers is part of a broader initiative to remove unlawful military structures. Four bunkers were destroyed today following successful negotiations with local tribal elders and members of a jirga (tribal council). These discussions facilitated the removal of the militant structures.
District authorities reassured the public that strict security measures were in place during the operation. The dismantling of the bunkers is in line with the Kohat Peace Accord, which seeks to restore peace and security to the area. A substantial force of police, army, and FC personnel has been deployed in the Khar Kaley Balish Khel region to oversee the operation.
Sources indicate that additional bunkers and check posts are expected to be demolished in the coming days as part of the ongoing security effort.
