Law enforcement agencies in Islamabad and several cities across Punjab detained 61 suspects during large-scale search and combing operations. The suspects included several proclaimed offenders and eight illegal nationals from Afghanistan.
The operations were conducted by multiple security units including the Counter Terrorism Department, Elite Force, Dolphin Force, and local police. Officials said the crackdown aimed to strengthen security and track down criminals hiding in urban areas.
Authorities confirmed that the operations covered residential neighborhoods, hotels, marketplaces, and other important locations. Entry and exit points of several areas were also monitored during the raids.
More than 400 law enforcement personnel took part in the coordinated operations. The security action was carried out under the tenancy act and other relevant laws to identify suspects and illegal residents.
Joint Security Teams Conduct Large-Scale Searches
The search operations were carried out by joint teams from the Shahzad Town Police Station in Islamabad and Civil Lines Police Station in Rawalpindi. Intelligence agencies also supported the police during the crackdown.
Officials said around 408 personnel participated in the operation. Security teams searched houses, hostels, and commercial buildings to verify residents and identify suspicious activity.
Police teams also checked vehicles during the campaign. Several motorcycles and cars were inspected at checkpoints placed across the targeted areas.
Authorities said the search operation was part of ongoing efforts to maintain law and order in the federal capital and nearby districts. Security officials believe such operations help prevent criminal activities and improve public safety.
Arrests and Recoveries During the Operation
Law enforcement agencies confirmed that 31 suspects were arrested in Rawalpindi alone. Among them, 20 individuals were living without proper rent agreements while seven had no police verification documents.
Two suspects were identified as targeted offenders. Officials also confirmed the presence of eight illegal Afghan nationals among those detained during the operation.
Security personnel recovered drugs and weapons from some suspects. Authorities said they seized about 1,610 grams of hashish and a 30-bore pistol during the raids.
Officials added that three proclaimed offenders were arrested from Murree during the same campaign.
Police said all detained individuals are being investigated. Legal action will be taken against those found involved in criminal activities or living illegally.
Authorities Vow Continued Operations
Security officials said the crackdown will continue across different parts of Punjab and the federal capital. They emphasized that law enforcement agencies will keep conducting intelligence-based operations to eliminate crime and illegal residency.
Authorities also stressed the importance of tenancy registration and police verification for tenants. Officials urged citizens and property owners to follow legal procedures when renting homes or businesses.
According to police, such operations help identify criminals hiding in urban areas and improve the overall security environment.
Officials said the campaign will remain active until illegal residents and wanted offenders are completely removed from the region.
