Partnering with the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA), TikTok is pioneering the implementation of Content Credentials technology, making it the first video-sharing platform to adopt this feature.
By leveraging Content Credentials, TikTok can automatically label AIGC uploaded from select platforms, providing users with clear context about the origin of the content.
The decision to implement automatic labeling aligns with TikTok’s commitment to transparency and responsible content creation. The platform has already been proactive in this regard, requiring creators to label realistic AIGC for over a year.
Additionally, TikTok has developed user-friendly tools to facilitate easy labeling, resulting in widespread adoption among its community of over 37 million creators.

Content Credentials attach metadata to the content, enabling TikTok to promptly recognize and label AIGC. This feature, which commenced rollout on May 9 for images and videos, will soon extend to audio-only content.
While AIGC labeling is widely endorsed by experts as a means to support responsible content consumption, TikTok acknowledges the potential for confusion among viewers lacking context.
To address this concern, the platform is collaborating with experts to develop media literacy campaigns aimed at helping users identify and critically evaluate AIGC and misinformation.
