ChatGPT, the popular AI chatbot, experienced a major outage today, preventing users from accessing the service.
Users began reporting the issue on social media and outage-tracking websites. OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, has confirmed the disruption and is actively working on a fix.
“We’re experiencing an outage right now. We have identified the issue and are working to roll out a fix. Sorry, and we’ll keep you updated!” OpenAI posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Although the exact cause of the outage remains unclear, users attempting to access the chatbot have encountered error messages indicating that the service is unavailable. The outage has impacted a wide range of users, including students, researchers, businesses, and individuals who rely on ChatGPT for various tasks.
As of now, OpenAI has not provided an estimated time for full restoration. Users are encouraged to monitor official updates from OpenAI’s channels.
Earlier, thousands of users worldwide, including in Pakistan, reported disruptions on Meta platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Threads. According to Downdetector.com, nearly 1,000 users in Pakistan reported issues with Meta services around 11 p.m. WhatsApp also faced disruptions, with 2,259 complaints registered since 10:52 p.m. Instagram recorded over 1,200 outage reports during the same timeframe. Some users on Facebook and Instagram also reported encountering errors such as “something went wrong.” Meta acknowledged the issue, stating, “We’re working on getting this fixed as soon as we can.”
