Misbah has been appointed as the head of  PCB cricket committee

ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq has been appointed as advisor to the country’s cricket board’s interim Management Committee chairman Zaka Ashraf.

According to sources, Misbah-ul- Haq will head the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) cricket committee on an honorary basis.

This marks his return to the PCB after the board’s former chairman Ramiz Raja sacked him as Pakistan’s head coach. He had previously served in dual roles as head coach-cum-chief selector.

Zaka roped Misbah in for advisory roles after the ex-batter volunteered his services to the PCB. The cricket committee’s formation was also Misbah’s idea, as per informed sources.

“The remaining members of the cricket committee will be finalized after consulting Misbah in the next few days,” sources said. Misbah wants to serve without any salary. This is a noble gesture witnessed by the PCB after many decades. The board wants more such people to come forward and serve the game of cricket. Therefore, the trend of high salaries in PCB should end.

A new selection committee will be formed based on input from Misbah in the coming days. Sources revealed that Misbah, Pakistan’s most successful Test cricket captain, will also represent the PCB in the International Cricket Council’s cricket committee.

In the meantime, former Test pacer Sarfaraz Nawaz reached out , actively offering his voluntary coaching services.

Pakistan Achieves A Historic Team Record In Test Cricket History

Meanwhile, after dismissing Sri Lanka in two sessions on day one, Pakistan’s batting lineup achieved a significant milestone in their Test history.

They reached 100 runs in just 16.4 overs, making it their fastest team hundred in the first innings of a Test match in the 21st century.

Despite losing Imam UL Haq early in the innings, Abdullah Shafique and Shan Masood continued to attack and maintained a run rate above six.
