Meta has recently unveiled the first major update of 2024 for WhatsApp Channels, aiming to enhance user experience with additional features. Initially introduced in June 2023 and initially limited to select countries, WhatsApp Channels has since expanded globally, including in Pakistan.
This feature allows users to receive updates on various topics like favorite personalities and sports through dedicated channels.
In November, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg reported that over 500 million people had started using WhatsApp Channels within just seven weeks of its introduction. Capitalizing on its popularity, Meta has now announced the integration of new features to improve the functionality of WhatsApp Channels.
As per Meta’s statement, the updated features include the ability for channel operators to share voice updates, conduct polls on different topics, and share channel updates in WhatsApp status. The introduction of voice notes aims to boost engagement minutes, considering the platform records a staggering 7 billion voice messages sent by WhatsApp users daily.
The addition of polls will allow users to express their opinions on various channel topics, adding an interactive element to the user experience. Furthermore, the ability to share channel updates in WhatsApp status provides channel admins with a promotional tool to reach a wider audience.
In an effort to streamline channel management, Meta has introduced the option to add up to 15 admins for a channel. This facilitates quicker updates and information sharing with users. These updates underscore Meta’s commitment to enhancing user engagement and interaction on the WhatsApp platform through innovative features.
