Meta Launches AI Image Generator Website

Meta has officially launched a dedicated website for its Imagine tool, an AI-driven image generator that was initially confined to Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp chats.

Now, users can access the Imagine tool directly on the web, making it more widely available. To use the tool, visitors need to log in with a free Meta account on the dedicated Imagine website.

The process involves providing a precise description of the desired image, clicking the Generate button, and receiving four different generated images that ideally match the user’s vision. Users can then select their preferred image, click the ellipsis icon, and choose to download the image in JPG format. It’s worth noting that each generated image comes with a watermark in the corner, indicating its origin as being “imagined with AI.”

Before its transition to a standalone website, Meta’s Imagine tool was primarily designed for creating and sharing images within the chat functionality of Facebook, Instagram, or WhatsApp. Integrated into Meta AI, the tool allows users to interact with an AI chatbot or include it in group conversations. In chat, users can activate the image generator by typing “/imagine” followed by a description of the desired image.

The image generation process relies on Meta’s Emu model, a specific AI model engineered to produce high-quality, photorealistic images within seconds. Meta announced the expansion of access to Imagine outside of chats in the UK, emphasizing its commitment to making the tool available for creative content creation beyond the messaging experience. The company highlighted the playful and creative ways in which users have been using Imagine and introduced the dedicated website at imagine.meta.com in a news post on Wednesday.

The post state, “We’ve enjoyed hearing from people about how they’re using Imagine, Meta AI’s text-to-image generation feature, to create fun and creative content in chats. Today, we’re expanding access to Imagine outside of chats, making it available in the UK to start at imagine.meta.com. While our messaging experience is designed for more playful, back-and-forth interactions, you can now create free images on the web, too.”
