ISLAMABAD: The government and private schools and colleges in Islamabad changed their timings by resuming regular, non-winter timings on Monday. The move marked the conclusion of the winter schedule. In the capital city, the schools and colleges restored their standard morning opening and closing hours. It indicated a return to routine academic operations.
Winter Timings Withdrawn as Weather Improves
Education authorities had introduced revised school timings in early December to address harsh winter conditions and icy early mornings. Regulators kept the adjusted schedule in place until January 31, 2026, to ensure student safety and comfort.
However, officials confirmed that the decision to revert to normal timings followed an improvement in weather conditions and an increase in daylight hours.
According to officials, longer days now allow schools to operate safely under standard schedules, supporting regular attendance and uninterrupted classroom activities. As a result, authorities believe the transition back to normal timings will help maintain academic continuity and reduce disruptions caused by shortened school days.
Parents and Students Notified of Schedule Change
Schools and colleges have already communicated the updated timings to parents and students through digital platforms, including official portals, messaging apps, and emails. Administrations said they aimed to ensure a smooth transition by providing advance notice and clear guidance on reporting times.
Meanwhile, parents largely welcomed the move, noting that consistent schedules help students readjust to structured routines. Teachers also expressed optimism, stating that normal hours allow for better lesson planning, extracurricular engagement, and completion of syllabi.
Education officials added that they would continue to monitor weather conditions closely. If extreme conditions return, authorities may review schedules again in consultation with school administrations. For now, however, institutions across Islamabad have fully resumed regular academic operations as the winter season draws to a close.
