The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has rolled out its nationwide “Go Cashless” campaign to encourage digital transactions for the purchase of sacrificial animals ahead of Eid ul Adha. The campaign, launched on May 20, 2025, will continue until the night of Eid, aiming to reduce reliance on physical cash and improve transaction efficiency during the festive season.
As part of its broader agenda to advance digital financial inclusion across the country, the SBP is collaborating with the banking sector to implement this initiative in 54 designated cattle markets nationwide. Building on the success of similar efforts last year, this yearโs campaign seeks to further expand the use of digital payment methods among buyers and sellers.
The digital solutions available in these markets can be used not only for buying sacrificial animals but also for paying for associated services such as water, animal feed, and parking fees.
To facilitate smoother transactions during the campaign period, the SBP has temporarily revised transaction limits from May 19 to June 15, 2025, for several types of accounts:
- Branchless Banking Level-1 Accounts
- Asaan and Asaan Digital Accounts
- Merchant Accounts
The daily transaction limits for these accounts have been removed, while the monthly transaction cap has been raised to Rs5,000,000.
The central bank has urged the public to utilize these secure and user-friendly digital services to make Eid ul Adha transactions more convenient. The campaign supports the vision of a modern, cashless, and financially inclusive ecosystem in Pakistan.
