The Saudi Red Crescent has successfully conducted a test landing of an emergency air ambulance on a newly constructed helipad within the Masjid Al Haram (Grand Mosque) in Makkah, marking a significant milestone in enhancing emergency medical response at the holy site.
The helipad, built as part of the third Saudi expansion of the Grand Mosque, is designed to facilitate rapid medical evacuations and provide immediate care to millions of pilgrims visiting Makkah each year.
Engineered to accommodate air ambulance operations, the modern helipad ensures the swift transportation of critical patients to nearby hospitals. This initiative is particularly vital during peak pilgrimage seasons such as Ramadan and Hajj, when the influx of worshippers can place immense pressure on medical facilities.
With this dedicated air ambulance service, emergency response times will be significantly reduced, ensuring timely and life-saving medical assistance for those in need.
