ISLAMABAD: A high-profile Saudi Arabian business delegation, led by Prince Mansour bin Mohammed Al Saud, will visit Pakistan this week. The visit seeks to explore lucrative investment opportunities across various sectors, including technology, agriculture, and defense.
The visit follows the signing of a historic mutual defence agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. The accord has significantly deepened bilateral trust and opened new avenues for economic cooperation.
Investment Worth Up to $1 Billion
According to reports, the Saudi delegation may announce an initial investment of up to $1 billion in Pakistan. Key areas of focus include sports equipment manufacturing, food processing, petrochemical development, and the Reko Diq mining project. The delegation also plans to evaluate government institutions for potential joint ventures.
Sources revealed that the scale of investment could depend on Pakistan’s ongoing economic reforms. Saudi investors are particularly monitoring steps taken to enhance transparency and ease profit repatriation for foreign businesses.
Strengthened Ties After Shehbaz-MBS Meeting
This development comes after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Riyadh on September 17. During the visit, Shehbaz received a guard of honour, while his plane was escorted by Saudi F-15 jets — a strong symbol of mutual respect and growing friendship.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to boosting economic, strategic, and Islamic cooperation. The Foreign Office hailed the visit as a step toward consolidating the historic partnership, with special focus on energy and infrastructure development.
Mutual Defence Pact Strengthens Partnership
The recently signed mutual defence pact ensures joint protection of the Two Holy Mosques and unified defence against external threats. Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir played a key role in finalizing the agreement, marking a milestone in regional security collaboration.
