Saudi Delegation Begins High-Level Visit
A high-level Saudi business delegation arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation, the Foreign Office confirmed. Prince Mansour bin Mohammad Al Saud, Chairman of the Saudi-Pakistan Joint Business Council, is leading the delegation.
Focus on Trade, Investment, and Vision 2030 Alignment
During the visit, Prince Mansour and his team will meet Pakistanโs leadership, senior government officials, chambers of commerce, and leading business groups. They aim to explore new opportunities for enhanced trade and investment between the two brotherly nations. The visit highlights the deep-rooted ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, reaffirming their shared commitment to expanding economic and investment partnerships under the Saudi-Pakistan Joint Business Council.
Discussions will focus on trade and investment facilitation, particularly in sectors aligned with Saudi Vision 2030 and Pakistanโs economic growth goals.
Recent Defence Agreement Strengthens Strategic Ties
The visit follows the signing of a โStrategic Mutual Defence Agreementโ between Islamabad and Riyadh on September 17. Both nations pledged to consider any attack on either country as aggression against both.
According to the Prime Ministerโs Office, the agreement reflects a mutual resolve to enhance security and ensure regional and global peace. It also aims to strengthen joint deterrence and deepen defence cooperation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif signed the pact during his state visit to Riyadh, where Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman hosted him at Al-Yamamah Palace.
Experts Hail Pact as a Historic Milestone
Experts have hailed the agreement as a historic step, elevating Pakistan-Saudi relations to a formal security alliance. They noted that while Pakistan has joined previous defence arrangements, this pact stands out for its binding clause treating aggression against one as aggression against both.
