Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday met with Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Adel Al-Jubeir, at the Prime Minister’s House to discuss the rapidly evolving situation in South Asia. The Saudi minister, on a day-long official visit to Pakistan, conveyed the Kingdom’s deep concern over recent escalations and called for de-escalation and peaceful resolution of all outstanding issues between Pakistan and India in line with international law and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
Prime Minister Shehbaz condemned India’s recent missile and drone attacks on Pakistani territory, which resulted in the deaths of numerous civilians, including women and children, and caused significant damage to civilian infrastructure. He labelled the attacks as a serious violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and a threat to regional stability.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s resolve to defend its territorial integrity under Article 51 of the UN Charter, the prime minister paid tribute to the bravery and professionalism of the country’s armed forces in countering Indian aggression. He also appreciated Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions and promoting peace in the region.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed satisfaction over the growing bilateral ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and lauded the Kingdom’s consistent support for Pakistan through times of need. He also extended warm regards to King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Separately, Saudi Minister Adel Al-Jubeir held a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Both leaders exchanged views on the regional situation and emphasized the importance of continued cooperation to uphold peace and stability. The discussions also covered the full range of bilateral relations, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the historic and brotherly bond between their nations.
