Saudi Arabia deported 14,039 illegal residents last week, the Ministry of Interior said on Saturday. Authorities intensified a nationwide campaign against violations of residency, labour, and border security laws. Security forces conducted joint inspections with several government agencies from October 16 to October 22. These efforts led to 22,613 arrests for different legal violations.
Breakdown of Legal Offences
Officials arrested 13,652 people for violating residency rules. Another 4,394 offenders breached border security laws. Authorities also detained 4,567 individuals for labour law violations. The ministry said 23,021 detainees contacted diplomatic missions to obtain travel documents. Moreover, 3,939 others moved forward with travel arrangements.
Border Security Measures Tightened
Forces captured 1,699 people attempting illegal entry into the Kingdom. Most detainees were Ethiopian or Yemeni nationals. Officials also stopped 35 people trying to leave the country without authorization. Another 23 individuals faced arrest for helping violators with transport, shelter, or employment.
Strict Penalties for Lawbreakers
The statement said 31,374 expatriates, including 29,814 men and 1,560 women, remain under legal review. The ministry warned that aiding violators could lead to 15-year prison terms. Fines may reach SR1 million, along with the confiscation of vehicles or property.
Public Urged to Report Offences
The ministry encouraged citizens to report violations through 911 in Mecca, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province. People in other regions can call 999 or 996 to alert authorities.
