Sources confirm that former Pakistan off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq is expected to take over as the head coach of the national cricket team, with duties likely starting before Pakistan’s upcoming tour of New Zealand.
According to sources within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Saqlain has agreed to the coaching role after a meeting with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. This marks his return to a position he previously held, following a previous approach from the board before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
At that time, Saqlain had declined the offer due to concerns involving all-rounder Shadab Khan. His return comes at a pivotal moment for Pakistan cricket as the team seeks stability in preparation for upcoming international tournaments.
