Samsung has launched a new feature in collaboration with Turkish Airlines to help travelers locate lost or delayed luggage. The Smart Tagged Baggage Service integrates Samsung’s SmartThings Find platform with the airline’s luggage management system, offering real-time tracking for checked baggage.
How the Service Works
Passengers can place a Galaxy SmartTag inside their luggage before their journey. If the bag is lost or delayed, travelers can share a link containing the SmartTag’s location data with Turkish Airlines through the airline’s lost luggage report. This allows airline staff to access real-time tracking information for faster recovery.
Additionally, Samsung’s Change Device Image feature in the SmartThings Find app lets users upload a photo of their bag. This visual reference helps airline personnel identify the luggage more quickly, reducing delays in retrieval.
Advanced Tracking Technology
SmartThings Find uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and ultra-wideband (UWB) technology. Supported by a network of over 700 million Galaxy devices worldwide, the system can locate items even when they are outside the direct Bluetooth range.
Samsung also announced plans to expand the Smart Tagged Baggage Service through partnerships with additional airlines, aiming to make lost luggage a problem of the past for more travelers globally.
