Samsung is preparing to deliver its most substantial wireless charging enhancement in over half a decade with the upcoming Galaxy S26 series. Recent discoveries in the One UI 8.5 source code reveal references to “Super fast wireless charging,” signaling a significant departure from current capabilities.
According to industry reports and software analysis, the Galaxy S26 Ultra could support wireless charging speeds reaching 25W, while the standard S26 and S26 Plus models are expected to feature 20W capabilities. This represents a meaningful advancement from the 15W maximum that has remained unchanged since the Galaxy S20 series launched in 2020.
The performance improvements should be noticeable in daily use. The enhanced charging speeds could reduce charging time by approximately 40%, potentially allowing the S26 Ultra to complete a full charge in roughly 60 minutes compared to the current 100-minute duration on the S25 Ultra.
All three Galaxy S26 models are anticipated to incorporate integrated magnets for improved alignment with Qi2-compatible charging accessories. This hardware addition would position Samsung alongside competitors like Google and Apple in offering magnetic wireless charging solutions, enhancing both convenience and charging efficiency.
While these specifications represent progress for Samsung’s flagship lineup, they still trail behind certain competitors. Chinese manufacturers like OnePlus and Xiaomi currently offer wireless charging speeds ranging from 50W to 80W using proprietary technologies. However, Samsung appears focused on adhering to industry-standard Qi charging protocols rather than developing exclusive charging systems.
The Galaxy S26 series is expected to debut in early 2026, likely during Samsung’s traditional January or February launch window. Beyond improved wireless charging, the devices are rumored to feature upgraded wired charging capabilities, with the Ultra model potentially supporting 60W charging speeds another notable increase over current specifications.
