Russia is the first country in the world to announce full support for Iran in the ongoing US-Israel war against Iran. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov today said that Moscow will take every step to prevent further United States and Israeli military operations against Iran.
Sergei Lavrov stated this today as tensions continue to rise following recent strikes on Iranian targets.
Speaking during official engagements, Lavrov stressed that Russia would work to create conditions that make such operations “impossible.” He argued that continued attacks could dramatically worsen the security situation in the Middle East and risk expanding the conflict beyond the region.
Lavrov also criticised Washington and Tel Aviv for what he described as aggressive actions against Iran. According to him, the military campaign has already increased instability and threatens to draw more countries into the confrontation.
Meanwhile, Russian officials have urged all sides to exercise restraint and return to diplomatic dialogue to prevent a broader regional war.
Russia questions objectives of US-Israel campaign
In addition, Lavrov questioned the stated objectives behind the US-Israeli strikes, arguing that the operation could produce consequences opposite to those claimed by its supporters.
He warned that military pressure on Iran might encourage countries in the region to seek nuclear weapons as a deterrent. Lavrov said such actions could undermine global nuclear non-proliferation efforts and create new security risks across the Middle East.
The remarks follow the joint US-Israeli attacks on Iranian sites that began in late February, which significantly escalated the ongoing regional crisis.
While condemning the strikes, Moscow has positioned itself as a potential mediator in the conflict. Russian leaders have held discussions with several regional governments and called for immediate de-escalation.
Analysts believe that with Russian support, Iran will be in a position to give a befitting response to the US-Israel bombings and this strategic move can put an end to the war.
