Authorities have approved a Rs2.22 billion project to transform 17 villages in Rawalpindi Division into model villages under the Annual Development Program. The project aims to modernize infrastructure and enhance basic services across selected communities.
Under the initiative, the government will construct and pave roads, streets, drains, and sewerage systems in the targeted villages. Officials will also launch new drinking water supply schemes and install water filtration plants to provide residents with clean and safe water.
In addition, the project includes hiring sanitary workers to improve waste management and establishing new dispensaries and basic health units to strengthen local healthcare services. Authorities plan to ensure a comprehensive approach that addresses both infrastructure and public health needs.
The government has included nine villages from Rawalpindi district in the scheme: Narha Bagwan, Dhok Gujran, Misrial, Nothia, Kalyal, Meena Potha, Kot Rajgan, Sindhu Sayedan, and Mattor. From Attock district, five villages โ Pind Fateh, Mithal, Kot Fateh Khan, Garshin, and Jand Bander โ will receive upgrades. Four villages from Chakwal district โ Jhatla, Kot Sarang, Mulhal Mughlan, and Malakwal โ are also included in the program.
Officials will issue contracts for municipal service improvements on February 25, with a target to complete the project within six months. Deputy commissioners, along with national and provincial assembly members, will supervise the execution to ensure timely completion and adherence to quality standards.
The government emphasized that the model village initiative aims to improve living standards, promote sanitation, and provide essential facilities, creating a blueprint for sustainable rural development across the division.
