Actress Rashmika Mandanna has opened up about the mental and physical toll of excessive work in the film industry, urging for more balanced schedules and structured working hours. As she prepares for the release of her upcoming film The Girlfriend, the actress reflected on her relentless workload, calling it “highly unsuggestible” and warning others against the same mistake.
In a recent conversation with Gulte, Rashmika shared that her packed calendar has left little time for rest or personal life. “I overwork, and I am telling you it’s highly not suggestible,” she admitted. “It’s not sustainable, don’t do it. Do what’s comfortable for you, do what’s right for you. Get those 8 or even 9–10 hours of sleep, because trust me, that’s going to save you later,” she advised.
Her remarks come amid growing discussions in the entertainment industry about mental health, burnout, and the importance of setting healthy professional boundaries — especially for artists constantly under pressure to deliver.
“Actors Deserve 9 to 5 Hours Too,” Says Rashmika
Rashmika revealed that despite her love for her craft, she struggles to decline new projects or extended shoots. However, she believes actors deserve defined working hours, just like any other profession. “If I could choose for myself, I would say, please don’t make us actors do that. Like offices have 9–5, let us have that,” she stated.
The actress expressed her wish to dedicate more time to her family, health, and personal growth, which often get compromised due to her tight shooting commitments. “There’s still a family life I want to focus on, and I still want to work out… but right now I don’t have a say because I’m taking on too much,” she explained.
Producer SKN recently lauded Rashmika for her dedication, calling her the only “pan-India heroine” willing to work any number of hours. He praised her professionalism and described her as someone who “feels like part of the family” on set due to her reliability and strong work ethic.
Upcoming Projects and Personal Milestones
Rashmika, who appeared in Chhaava, Sikandar, Kuberaa, and Thamma earlier this year, is now gearing up for The Girlfriend, directed by Rahul Ravindran, set to release on November 7. She also has Cocktail 2 and Mysaa lined up, further solidifying her position as one of Indian cinema’s most sought-after talents.
On the personal front, the actress recently got engaged to long-time partner and fellow actor Vijay Deverakonda, with reports suggesting that the couple plans to tie the knot in April next year.
Through her candid reflections, Rashmika has reignited conversations about the demanding nature of the entertainment world and the urgent need for work-life balance. Her message — that health and happiness are as vital as success — serves as a reminder to both fans and industry peers: sometimes, it’s not worth it to overwork.
