ISLAMABAD: YouTubers Rajab Butt and Nadeem Mubarak, widely known as Nani Wala, will arrive in Pakistan tonight and face a probe in multiple cases. Both secured protective bail from the Islamabad High Court today. They will surrender to authorities on December 10 (Wednesday). The court barred law enforcement agencies from arresting them at Islamabad Airport. The orders followed petitions filed by their relatives to prevent their immediate detention.
Multiple cases registered against both influencers
Rajab Butt and Nadeem Mubarak face several cases linked to online content and alleged illegal activities. In September, the cybercrime agency booked Butt for promoting gambling apps on social media. Mubarak faced similar allegations for endorsing gambling applications. Police also arrested him for displaying a fake vehicle registration plate marked IK-804. The number is said to match the prison number of PTI founder Imran Khan. Police said Mubarak failed to justify the use of the fake plate during questioning.
Their lawyer said both men travelled from London voluntarily. He denied rumours suggesting Butt had been deported from the United Kingdom. He stated on social media that Butt chose to return on his own and already appeared before the Islamabad High Court.
Past legal troubles resurface amid ongoing scrutiny
Butt has encountered repeated legal troubles over the past year. In March, authorities booked him under blasphemy and cybercrime laws. The case stemmed from the launch of his perfume brand named “295,” which critics said referenced Pakistan’s blasphemy law. In December last year, police arrested him for keeping a lion cub and weapons at his residence. He later pleaded guilty to illegally possessing the wild animal, which he had received as a wedding gift.
The authorities said the latest investigations remain active. They stated that further legal action will follow after the creators formally surrender.
