In a startling revelation, former opposition leader in the National Assembly and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) stalwart Raja Riaz has claimed that the terms for government formation have been finalized between former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari.
Raja Riaz dismissed the significance of the PPP and PML-N committees, asserting that the details of government formation have already been settled between Shehbaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari. He asserted that all PPP members would be included in the cabinet alongside PML-N, emphasizing that any refusal from the PPP would jeopardize their ability to form the government in Sindh as well.
While acknowledging his party’s defeat in the recent elections, Raja Riaz raised questions about the unexpected loss of former Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, considering him a strong candidate for the PML-N in the 2024 elections.
In response to Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s recent statements, Raja Riaz disclosed that the JUI-F chief had confided in him regarding support for a no-confidence motion from various quarters. He further claimed that General Qamar Bajwa was behind the efforts to remove Imran Khan from office, suggesting that Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s assertions reflected the truth.
The assertion comes amidst ongoing uncertainty surrounding government formation, with the PPP reiterating its stance of supporting the PML-N’s prime ministerial nominee while abstaining from holding any ministerial positions in the federal cabinet.
