Balochistan: Over the past eight hours, Kalat and its surrounding areas experienced a considerable downpour, accumulating eighteen millimeters of rainfall. The incessant rain has triggered flooding in Qila Abdullah, exacerbating the situation in low-lying regions like Mashkil near the Pakistan-Iran border.
In Qila Abdullah, the continuous rainfall has caused rivers to overflow, leading to flooding in several areas. The adverse weather conditions have left vehicles stranded, rendering rescue efforts challenging. Deputy Commissioner Chagai has urgently requested a rescue helicopter to aid in evacuation efforts, highlighting the severity of the situation.
District Vice Chairman Isfandyar Muhammad Zai reported that relief efforts are underway, with levies forces delivering essential supplies such as food, blankets, and consumable items to affected individuals, particularly drivers stranded in flooded areas.
The Meteorological Department has recorded rainfall across various parts of Balochistan, with Gwadar receiving the highest accumulation of 58 millimeters. Regions including Quetta, Dalbandin, Khuzdar, and Turbat have also experienced varying levels of rainfall.
The widespread rainfall underscores the urgent need for coordinated response efforts to mitigate the impact of flooding and ensure the safety and well-being of affected communities in Balochistan.
